Dear
January 29, 2010
Dear iPad,
Please stop invading my dreams. You have already successfully made me desire getting you when you come out.
Dear Healing Lip,
Sorry Dean and I tried to share toast like lady and the tramp shared a speghetti noodle, and somehow Dean bit you. You are really doing a great job of healing nicely. But I wouldn’t mind if you were back to normal tomorrow.
Dear Future Mini Golden-Doodle Puppy of Ours,
I often think of how adorable our Dean family Christmas Cards will be when you can finally be in them, I hope you love us as much as we will love you. I can’t wait to curl up with you and watch The Office. I know you will think Dwight is as funny as I do.
Dear Portland,
Thank you for being the birth place of my best friends, but I do wish they were closer… Can you try to help? thanks.
Dear Dean,
Thank you for being so fun and the best friend I’ve ever had.
Dear Exercise,
I wish I liked you more lately. Sorry.
Dear Summer Nights,
I anxiously await your return.
“Hot” Roast
January 21, 2010
Yesterday my domestication took me to a place in my cooking, that I’d have to say I probably enjoy the most……to the slow cooker or as i like to call it “the crock pot”.
I have been wanting to make a pot roast for a few months now and just havn’t gotten around to actually doing it…but yesterday was the day. I made a pot roast with my mother’s recipe about a year ago and it turned out pretty good….. but i wanted to try my hand at it with my own recipe and love of flavour.
And so it began…. The “Hot” Roast (i’m calling it the “hot” roast… because my recipe turned out so yummy that it needed a sassier name…..)
I began preparing the ingredients at about 12:30ish and was actually finished washing, peeling, cutting, and ready to place them in the crock pot by about 1ish. Interrupted with a few kisses from my Dean…but I’m not complaining.
What i love most about a crock pot is that it cooks all day making your house smell heavenly and then in a few hours it’s done… and it’s moist, and tender and amazing….. mmmm. (and the very best part is there is hardly any clean up.) yay!!

The dish turned out perfectly.
Everything was full of flavour and very tender.
I had the pleasure of making this “hot” roast for my Dean, his father and his buddy phil…. and they loved it.
all bowls were empty.

phil..enjoying Dean’s dinner toast.
Dean likes to make toast with every meal….. rye toast at that.

“Hot” Roast Recipe:
1 Oven Roast of Your choosing
2 Large Carrots
6 Medium Potatoes
1 Tomato
2 Stalks of Celery
1 cup Frozen Corn
1 Can Mushroom Soup
1 Package of Onion Soup Mix
1 Pack Beef Boulion
1/2 tbs Garlic Salt
2-4 Cups of Water
A sprinkle of Nutmeg
Salt and Pepper
Olive Oil
Start By washing, and peeling the carrots and potatoes. Cut them into thick chunks. Wash celery and tomato and cut into large chunks and place into a bowl with the potatoes and carrots.
Set your pan to med-high and ad olive oil. Rinse your pot roast.
Rub the roast with about a 1-2 tbs of salt, garlic salt and/or pepper.
Sear each side of the roast in the pan, until all sides are brown.
Add water to crock pot then place the rost in the crock pot.
Add garlic salt, onion soup mix and beef bouillon to the water inside the crock pot.
Add all vegtables (including corn) to the crock pot.
Add the sprinkle of nutmeg.
Spoon over the top the can of mushroom soup.
Add water until the water level is slightly lower then the highest vegtables.
Cook on High for 6 to 7 hours
or
Cook on Low for 8 to 9 hours.
And there is is.
Hope you enjoy.

(500) Days of…
January 16, 2010
Movies like this make me miss driving on fall nights in my huge old car w/ the perfect musical soundtrack.
***
I have this great memory of when Dean and I first started dating……
Being a musician, I have been obsessed with great songs and pairing them with other great songs…. in just the perfect way….. to make the perfect playlist for that moment.
It was Fall 2008 and Dean was soon to leave on a tour and so I made him the“Perfect Mixtape” playlist of songs to listen to while he was away
……….entitled “Ever Thine, Ever Mine, Ever Ours”.
I drove down the freeway from my house with the heat up and the radio on high. I believe I was listening to Copeland…. a usual for my driving routines. I remember feeling so giddy for the night ahead… the night of sharing the best music I could possibly find to convey the way I felt.
I was beaming…
I arrived at Dean’s and he jumped into the car and we were off on ouradventure.
We drove into the night, our hands intertwined, and our hearts racing.
I began driving.
I pressed PLAY.
…and just like that music filled the air inside the 1989 Ford Crown Victoria. The sounds soared through our ears, and lingered on our hearts as we watched the city fly past us in the reflection of it on our windows. I drove for over an hour through back roads and hills, through my favourite streets and past my favourite town sights. Though barely a word was spoken, we were saying everything that needed to be said.
I believe, great songs are a form of unspoken communication.
The playlist played it’s last song and we sat in the moment for a few minutes. Silently soaking in the atmosphere, our hands clasped tighter then before. Slow motion, or so it seemed, a sweet goodnight kiss he gave me …… and there it was…. one of those moments where i knew i was in love.
In the history of Dean and I, this night is one of our favourites to think back on. It was just all the right elements, at the right time, all combining to make a perfect memory.
(contributing to the perfect love
)

Matthew 6:25-33
25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
